Sh. Muhamad West, born in Cape Town, South Africa, spent most of his youth growing up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He went on to study a degree in Islamic theology at the world renowned Islamic University of Madinah while studying a degree in accounting science through the University of South Africa (UNISA) via correspondence concurrently.
Sh. Muhammad returned to Cape Town in 2011 graduating 2nd in the faculty of Dawa. He further qualified as a chartered accountant of South Africa. Sh. Muhammad has over a decade of experience as a finance executive for international organizations in the retail, fishing and NGO sector.
As of 2018 he was appointed as the Director of Finance for the International Open University, the worlds largest online Islamic university.
Sh. Muhammad holds the position of resident Imam of the Boorhaanol Islam Masjid, one of the oldest mosques in South Africa. He is furthermore a director of the Imam Development Project (IDP) whereby 600 imams are given the necessary support and skills to further benefit the communities they serve. Sh. Muhammad West serves as an international guest lecturer for the AlKauthar Institute, and is currently hosted on Muslimcentral with over 500 lectures.
In 2020 Sh. Muhammad was nominated as one of the top under 35 CA’s in South Africa.
